Miss Otis' Class

Welcome to "Otisville"

Third Grade is Dog-gone Great!

(Updated on April 19, 2012 )

Thanks for checking back in. I do not use a WIKI, but instead post on this page. Please check back frequently.

Flat Stanley projects should have been returned from their vacation and nightly homework should include putting everything together in a folder or binder and "fancied" up like a scrapbook. All projects are due next Friday, April 28th.

Multiplication timed tests will continue for one more week, after this one. Please continue working with your children on mastering their multiplication facts. Ten minutes of daily drill should boost their acquisition level. I am pumping out the graded tests as fast as I can. Divison facts are taught concurrently, but the students only test informally, through math pages, on this skill. Those students who do not master their facts should continue working on them at home as there will be a final mixed facts review test right before Report Cards.

Please remember to save and study weekly Spelling words. Homework assignments often include using these lists.

Staff Development Training

An important component of teaching is learning. All Westpark teachers attend a variety of workshops and classes which enhance our skills and help us continue to provide our students with the very best of learning. Well qualified Substitute Teachers help keep our classrooms running smoothly and our curriculum uninterrupted. I am currently scheduled to be out of the classroom on the following dates:

June 5th-On site, third grade planning day. All third grade teachers will meet to discuss curriculum, review data, and review best teaching practices.
