The Board of Education recognizes that technological resources can enhance
employee and student performance by improving access to information, and offering effective tools to assist in providing a quality instructional program,
promoting student learning, and facilitating district and
school operations.
Employees and students shall be responsible for the appropriate use of technology
and shall use the district's technological resources only for purposes
related to their employment or their learning. Occasional,
reasonable, personal use by staff members is allowable. The use of
the district's technology resources is considered a privilege that may be revoked
at any time.
The Board desires to protect students from access to harmful matter on
the internet or other on-line services. All district computers
with Internet access shall have a technology protection measure that prevents
access to visual depictions that are obscene or pornographic. The technology protection measure
may be disabled during use by an
adult to enable access for bona fide research or other lawful purpose.
To ensure proper use, the district's technological resources, including e-mail and voice
mail systems, may be monitored at any time without advance notice or consent.
Inappropriate
use shall result in a cancellation of the user's privileges, disciplinary action and/or legal action in accordance with law, Board
policy and administrative regulations.
All school and district web sites are the property of the district and
shall operate as closed forums.
Disclosure, use, and dissemination of personal identification
information regarding students is prohibited.
Students shall be supervised while using on-line services.
Before using the district's technological resources, each student and his/her
parent/guardian shall sign and return an Acceptable Use Agreement
specifying user obligations and responsibilities.
