The Board of
Education
believes every effort should be made to resolve students' learning
problems at school, before recommending that parents/guardians engage a
tutor or other professional help. The Board of Education recognizes that beneficial
educational experiences are not limited to the normal school day and year,
and also recognizes the right of district employees
to work privately in their professional capacity.
To avoid any conflict of interest,
or any perception that a student's grade or status might benefit by
individual private instruction from the students' teacher or coach, persons
employed by the Irvine Unified School District may not solicit or accept
any kind of remuneration other than
district compensation for individual professional services rendered to a student who is concurrently a member of
his/her class, team, or performing group.
Any person
employed by the Irvine Unified School District who realizes financial
gain, directly or indirectly, other than district compensation from
professional services provided to a student who is concurrently a member
of his/her class, team, or performing group, shall have an approved plan
that mitigates any perception of undue influence or favoritism.
