The Superintendent or his designated representative shall have the
authority to take such immediate emergency steps as are found necessary to ensure the
physical and educational well-being of the students and employees and other individuals
participating in the programs of the Irvine Unified School District. This authority shall
also extend to the protection of all properties owned, operated or affiliated with the
District.
The Superintendent or designated representative may take such steps as
are found necessary and permissible to identify all working employees (permanent,
temporary or other status) against any personal loss on or immediately adjacent to a
school site or other District property which occurs as a result of a work stoppage or
interruption of services by an employee group. This section shall apply only to situations
involving employees who are faithfully performing their assigned duties and where the
affected employee had no material contribution to the incurrence of the loss.
Any amount receivable from the employees insurance will be
deducted from any allowable claim. Any loss covered by District insurance may, at the
discretion of the Superintendent, be paid to the employee in the form of a cash advance,
until such time as funds are received by the employee from the insurance carrier.
The Superintendent is authorized to represent the District in all
dealings with local law enforcement and investigative agencies on matters involving
interference with the District educational program. This includes, but is not limited to,
threats or acts of intimidation to any student, employee, volunteer or visitor, reasonable
standards of conduct for employees in any assembly or picket activity, or damage to any
property of the Irvine Unified School District.
Refusal by any employee to surrender keys or other property of the
Irvine Unified School District upon reasonable notice, explanation and request by
supervisor or delegate of the Superintendent shall be considered an act of theft and shall
be handled as such.
