RECOGNITION OF RELIGIOUS BELIEFS AND CUSTOMS

BOARD POLICY - 6141.2

The instructional program of the schools should be designed to broaden our students’ understanding and acceptance of different customs and beliefs.

The display of religious symbols in the classroom should be handled very carefully. Religious symbols may be displayed in a neutral manner as part of an objective study of religion in the overall context of a secular program of education.  Religious material should not be displayed to further a religious purpose such as inducing children to accept tenets of a particular faith.
