Language Arts
Students continue to meet with their RtI groups for the anthology stories and to further develop their reading skills and strategies. They will cover Themes 3 and 4.
Students are focusing on the writing style of summary and response to literature. They also will also continue to review narrative format. In addition, students will work on poetry and content specific vocabulary.
In the area of grammar, students are revising and editing their writing process pieces. Grammar emphasis is on practical application.
Math
Students will cover the following math units: Unit 5: Fractions, Unit 6: Decimal Numbers, and Unit E: Three-Dimensional Figures.
Science
The science focus this term is on the physical sciences. The students are learning about electricity (Chapter 6) and magnetism (Chapter 7). Reminder that essay questions are open book, but IOLA is closed book.
Health
Students are currently learning about staying drug free, building their assets, exercise, and their hearing.
Physical Education
Students continue to rotate through different activity stations that emphasized certain fine and gross motor skills. Every Thursday students participate in physical drills to contribute to their overall physical fitness health.
Social Studies
Students are learning about the gold rush and California statehood.
