Rules & Regulations
To insure the safety of the students riding the school
bus, whether the bus is operated by Irvine Unified School District or a
Contractor hired by Irvine Unified School District, all riders must abide by the
following
District rules and California State Laws.
- A child's arrival at the pick-up point must occur at least 5 minutes, but not more
than ten minutes before the bus is due.
- Children will only be allowed access to the bus, when boarding at their
assigned stop. Departing the bus is allowed only at their assigned afternoon
stop.
- Orderly behavior is required at all bus stops.
- As the bus approaches, the children must stand in a straight line, at
least 10 feet back from the street and must not move until the bus has
stopped and the door has opened.
- Once aboard the bus, the child must remain seated, facing forward, while
the bus is being operated on a roadway.
- Talk quietly. Shouting, yelling, boisterous behavior or any unnecessary
loud noise is not allowed. For the safety of all aboard, the driver must be
able to devote their full attention to the road. Unnecessary conversation
with the driver or creation of any distraction or disturbance will not be
allowed. Students should be made aware that the safety of the whole group
depends upon the proper and safe conduct of each person on board the bus.
- All passengers are required to keep their head and arms in the bus at all
times. Yelling or shouting out the windows is never allowed.
- Eating, drinking and gum chewing are not allowed on the bus.
- Animals (except helper or seeing eye dogs), glass objects, skate boards or
any hazardous article of any kind will not be allowed on the bus at any
time.
- Littering vandalism or throwing anything at, on or out of the bus will not
be permitted at any time.
- Shoes will always be worn while on the bus. No cleats are spikes allowed
as they can harm the protective flooring of the bus.
- Students must never play or tamper with any equipment on the bus.
- Passengers are required to remain quiet at all railroad crossings. The
driver must be able to hear if a train is approaching.
- When exiting the bus, always follow the driver's instructions completely.
If you need to cross the street, cross in front of the bus.
