Principal’s Summer News

Eastshore students celebrated the end of the year with a variety of activities including lagoon parties, a trip to the beach, pool parties, a trip to the movies, picnics, water fun and sixth grade promotion, to name just some.  Our students and staff worked hard this year and it was great for staff and students to enjoy their final days of the school year together.

As you know our school is undergoing modernization this summer and our office has been temporarily relocated.  Information about how to contact us is listed on the main page of our website.  An all school email will be sent out during the summer to notify families of the progress and any updates with regard to re-establishing ourselves on site.  Email will be the best way to access our office between June 30 and August 18.

As we anticipate the 2008-2009 school year, our school configuration will look a little bit different.  Classroom changes have been made to allow for vertical teams of 3rd through 6th grade classes, with the kindergarten, first and second grade classes remaining in the same locations, and a few individual classrooms changing slightly.  Vertical teaming is a commitment our staff has made in going forward with the practice of becoming a Professional Learning Community.  This configuration will promote RIR, peer tutoring, student council activities, and staff articulation, among a limitless list of possibilities for collaboration.

Class placement is usually a highly anticipated part of returning to school in September.  Preliminary placement was completed by teachers with the primary focus being well balanced classes.  Teacher requests are not accepted as our staff consists of highly qualified professionals who teach to the California State Standards at every grade level.  Assignments of staff will be made at the end of the summer when our enrollment has stabilized.  If there is information about a specific student that is unknown to the previous teacher and would impact that child’s performance in a classroom, please feel free to contact us with that information so that we may review the child’s class placement prior to finalizing class lists.

Finally, the Eastshore staff wishes you a safe, healthy and happy summer!  We look forward to your return in September and are anxious to hear about your summer adventures…enjoy!!
