Bettina Pierce began her teaching career in Irvine in 1983 and has been teaching elementary science since 1989. Her favorite units are Environments, Electricity & Magnetism, and Matter.
Bettina also serves as a TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment) to Irvine's Elementary Science Specialist program. In this capacity, Bettina is primarily responsible for curriculum development and teacher training.
Throughout her career, Bettina has been active in promoting science education in her community. She has served as a representative to the Irvine Science Alliance, as a member of the science task force for MacMillan/McGraw-Hill, and as a Beckman@Science teacher leader. Bettina has been a presenter at the county, state, and national science conferences, and has assisted with the development of exhibits and programs at the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana.
Bettina loves teaching hands-on science to children. She is honored to have been selected twice to represent Irvine's science specialists at the annual Excellence in Teaching Awards.
