Course Descriptions:
Exploratory Art (1-2) - This class offers instruction in art, music, and drama
providing an excellent overview of the summer program to attend to the special needs of
our younger students.
Art Workshop (3-8) - This class offers two- and three-dimensional art projects in
conjunction with the district's art matrix.
Drama Workshop (3-8) - Students will develop script, set design, and constumes
to produce a play to be performed before an audience.
Instrumental Music (4-8) - The instrumental music program provides an ensemble
experience for students with at least one school year of experience on their
string, woodwind, brass or percussion instrument (sorry, no keyboards). Students
are placed into one of two orchestras according to their musical experience. An
evening performance at the end of the third week is included. The fourth
week is reserved for our "Music Olympics" where students are challenged
using the skills that they gathered during the previous three weeks. The
culminating event is a pizza and ice cream sundae party. Throughout
the four weeks, musical skills are developed within a relaxed, social atmosphere. Enrollment
is limited to 150.
