Absences
Reporting
an Absence
The following is needed when reporting a student's
absence: (attendance verification required by State of California).
- Call Lakeside Middle School before 8:00 AM on each day
of absence, or leave message on tape during non-school
hours. Telephone: (949) 936-6101.
- Name of student.
- Name of advisor.
- Reason for absence.
- Name of parent/guardian.
Clearing
an Absence
Every absence from school must be cleared whether it is
excused or not excused. Absences must be cleared in one
of the following ways:
- When a student is absent, parents are to report the
absence by TELEPHONING the school on the FIRST DAY of
the absence (see reporting an absence).Call and ask
for the Lakeside Middle School Attendance Clerk.
- If a parent has not called, the student (upon his/her
return) is responsible for bringing to the office before
school a written excuse from his/her parent/guardian.
The note must show the following:

Absences:
Students are required by law to attend school regularly.
California law allows absences for illness, quarantine directed
by a health office, medical, dental, or optometrical services,
and for funeral services of a member of the student's immediate
family. The school will attempt to cooperate with families
having an emergency or unusual situation.
