Second Grade Wish List

Many parents have asked us for a list of items that we could use in our classrooms. The following items would be very much appreciated, if you would like to donate.

  • Dixon Ticonderoga “Laddie” pencils with erasers (available at Staples, Lakeshore Learning Supplies, and online at Amazon.com)

  • Antibacterial wipes

  • Tissues (Kleenex or other brand)

  • Green Bic Ink Pens (available at Staples)

  • Dry Erase markers wedge tip

  • Sets of colored pencils to be shared

Box Tops for Education

We all shop for groceries, sometimes two or three times a week – or more. Now turn those shopping trips into easy cash for our school, and encourage your family and friends to do the same! Just look for the Box Tops logo on hundreds of products like Cheerios®, Hamburger Helper®, and Kleenex®, in almost every aisle of the store. Clip the Box Tops logos from more than 330 participating products and return them to school in a clear baggie labeled with child's name and teacher's name. Each clipped Box Top is worth 10 cents; the more we collect, the more money our PTA receives. You can also register at www.boxtops4education.com to become a member of the box top community. After registering, you can win prizes for Meadow Park, track our progress as well as earn up to 15% on online purchases from hundreds of vendors who have teamed up with box tops.

Reminders

Please make sure your children are on time and ready to learn. School begins promptly at 8:10 each day. If a child is not in line at the time the second bell rings, he/she is tardy and should go to the office for a red tardy card. Thank you for ensuring that your children are at school on time.

Upcoming Special Events

Valentine's Day

The children will be making Valentine Bags in class. All children should either make or buy a valentine for each child in the class. This helps to avoid hurt feelings. Valentines are due on Tuesday, February 7.  The children will be “mailing” their valentines during the week. Students will open their valentines on Tuesday, February 14. They will enjoy a cookie and punch while they read their special valentine cards.

Jog-a-thon Gift Baskets

This year, the PTA will be coordinating gift basket raffles in which ALL children that meet the minimum donation of $40 will have a chance to win.

Each child that meets the minimum donation level of $40 will be given 5 raffle tickets for every $40 contributed.

However, in order to make the gift baskets, they need your help!! They have come up with various themes for gift baskets at each grade level. If you have any new and unused items on hand that fit this theme they would love the donations!

Please see the attached flier for all the information and the theme of each grade level’s basket.

Open House

Our annual Open House is on Thursday, February 23rd this year. You will have the opportunity to walk through classrooms and see all the work in progress. Instead of waiting until the end of the year to meet new families and become familiar with what is going on in our classrooms, we thought we’d invite you to come and join us for a night of community building. Please mark your calendars.

Meadow Park Revue

This year, the annual Meadow Park Revue will be held at the LDS church in Woodbridge on March 2. Mark your calendars for this special evening of entertainment. Watch for upcoming information and details on the Meadow Park website.

Spirit Day Information

Please remember to show your Meadow Park School Spirit each Friday by wearing a Meadow Park shirt of any kind or a blue and green outfit (this must be mostly green and blue.) The spirit count is taken on the last Friday of each month and a golden horseshoe is given to the class or classes with the highest percentage of students participating. Go Mustangs!
