Denise Olson

Welcome to First Grade!

Hi my name is Denise Olson. I have been teaching in Irvine Unified School District since 1983.  I have been at Meadow Park Elementary since 1996.  I have taught first, second, third and sixth grades.  After seven years in first grade I have finally graduated to second grade at Meadow Park . 

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with a minor in Psychology from California State University , Long Beach .  I also received my multiple subject teaching credential from CSULB.  I have received specialized training in intervention programs for struggling readers, including the Collaborative Literacy Intervention Project (CLIP) and the Early Intervention Reading  Model (EIRM).  I was a training teacher for Reading For Success, and IUSD project addressing the literacy needs of all students.

I am a native Southern Californian.  I live in Irvine with my husband, and our four teenage daughters.  In my spare time (when I have it) I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, making scrapbooks, and shopping.

I learn so much working with the children I teach everyday.  I love to watch them learn and grow.  I am looking forward to another exciting school year at Meadow Park , and the opportunity to work with you and your children.
