Welcome to First Grade!!! I have been teaching
elementary school in
Southern California
for twenty-five years. In 1987, it was a real privilege for me to become
part of the
Meadow
Park
“founding family” of
educators as one of four Kindergarten teachers. After five years in
Kindergarten I took on the challenge of moving to first grade, where I
have stayed for the last twelve years.
I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Social
Sciences and my teaching credential from the
University
of
Southern California
. I have also received
specialized training in intervention programs for struggling readers,
including the Collaborative Literacy Intervention Project (CLIP) and the
Early Intervention Reading Model (EIRM). I was a training teacher for
Reading For Success, an IUSD project addressing the literacy needs of
all students. I really do love to teach reading to first graders!
After living in
Irvine
for 20 years, I have recently moved to
San Clemente
with my husband, Gary. We have been married for 20 years and have two
sets of twins who are all the same age! Figure that one out!! Terrie and
Tracie and Kevin and Kellie all attended
Irvine
schools from Kindergarten at Stone Creek through graduation at
Woodbridge
High School
. Terrie graduated from USC
in Psychology and
USC
Law
School
and is now an attorney in
Orange
County
. Tracie graduated from USC in Communications and is now a catering
manager at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel. Kevin graduated from USC
and is now working on his MBA at USC while working for the La Salle
Group in
Los Angeles
. Kellie received her Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree from UC
Davis and is now at
Michigan
getting her Doctorate in Physiology! Needless to say, we are very proud
of all of our wonderful children.
In my spare time I love to read, go to the beach,
play Bunco with friends, do calligraphy, and travel with my family
whenever I get the chance!
Meadow
Park
is really a “ happy place where all children learn”
and I absolutely love teaching each and every one of your
children every day.
