I am a native Californian, born and raised in Newport
Beach . I graduated from Corona del Mar High School in 1976, after
spending an idyllic youth growing up in Corona del Mar and on Balboa
Island .
I then decided to attend college in Paris , France , at the American University of Paris . I spent two years there studying French (of course) as well as many other liberal arts subjects. I met my husband in Paris . He is originally from Istanbul , Turkey . After much deliberation we decided to return to California so that I could be close to my family. We have been married 27 years and have two beautiful daughters. Kalyn is 21 and a senior at U.C.L.A. this year. Kendra is 18 and is attending UCSB as a sophomore. I continued my education after the birth of my daughters and earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I began teaching at Meadow Park in 1990 and continue to feel incredibly lucky to be here. I returned to college for my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction which I earned in 1994. I taught third grade at Meadow Park for five years. I have been teaching sixth grade ever since, and I love it! I have been to Outdoor Science School eleven years in a row and am again looking forward to our trip to the mountains this year. In my spare time I love to read, travel with my family and spend time at the beach. I also enjoy spending time with my teammates and colleagues who are also my dear friends. I feel so fortunate to work with people I love and to be able to spend each day with 11 and 12 year olds. They keep me young at heart! Teaching is not really a job for me, it is a passion.
