Rhonda Hurwitz

Welcome to First Grade!!! I can’t believe that I have been teaching for 19 years! I have taught in all grades, kindergarten through sixth grade, but first grade is really the best!   I am proud to say that this is my tenth year teaching first grade at Meadow Park .

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and my teaching credential from UCLA.  Subsequently, I received my Master’s Degree and my Reading Specialist Credential from California State University , Long Beach . I have also received specialized training in intervention programs for struggling readers including CLIP (Collaborative Literacy Intervention Project) and EIRM (Early Intervention Reading Model). Can you tell that my passion is reading?

My husband, Hal, and I have been married for 31 years. We have lived in Irvine for 24 years and our children attended Northwood Elementary School , Sierra Vista Middle School , and Irvine High School .  Our daughter, Alison, graduated from UC San Diego and received her Master’s Degree from The University of Judaism.  She is currently teaching 8^th grade.  Our son, Robbie, who married Rebekah this past summer, graduated from UCLA and is currently attending UCLA Law School.  We are proud parents!

In my spare (?) time, you can find me exercising at the gym.  I also enjoy cooking, baking, reading, going to the movies, traveling, attending concerts, eating peanut M & M’s, celebrating holidays and spending time with family and friends.  I love summer entertaining around our pool!

I love teaching and can’t think of anything I’d rather do than teach first grade at Meadow Park !! Thank you for sharing your children with me!
