The OLSAT is the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test. This test assesses student's thinking/reasoning skills using verbal, quantitative, and non-verbal communication/symbols. Students may only take the OLSAT one time each year.
OLSAT testing for students in grades 3rd - 6th will be in Oct and November of 2012. Check back in September for the registration form.
OLSAT testing for Middle School Students will be June 26, 2012 at 10:00 am at Canyon View Elementary. If the student is already GATE identified, the student does NOT need to take the OLSAT. GATE identification lasts through 8th grade. Click here for registration form.
Interpreting OLSAT Scores
We only look at the total scores, not the verbal or nonverbal scores. For GATE identification with OLSAT, the highest score between the total Age Based percentile or the total Grade Based percentile must be 95 or higher.
Example:
Age Based Scores (look at third column where it states Age PR-S)
Total 96-9 (this means the child received a 96 percentile, 9 is a ranking)
Grade Based Scores
Total 94-8 (this means the child received a 94 percentile, 8 is a ranking)
In this example, the child would qualify for GATE because the Age Based Score was 96%.
