Lunch Box FAQs

Q:  Why do I have to have a PIN number if I am paying cash?

A:  Our ultimate goal is that every student will have money in his or her account.  Snacks and lunches will be deducted from accounts, allowing the lines to move much faster, and doing away with the need for "cash".  You need to memorize and learn to use your PIN number now, because very soon we will be as "cashless" as possible.

Q:  When will I be able to go on-line to put money into my child's account?

A:  Actually, much sooner than originally thought.  It is likely that this feature of the program will be available before the end of September.  Mr. Machesky will make the announcement to the parents and students as soon as the system is ready.

Q:  How do I put money into my student's account right now?

A:  This is a very easy thing to do!  We accepts checks (made to:  IUSD Food Service), and cash.  Any amount is OK.  Parents, or students, can bring the payment to the Plaza Vista School Office, or directly to the Plaza Vista School Cafeteria.  Important:  Please be certain to write the name your student is registered under, as well as your student's PIN number on the check, or the envelope containing the cash.  This will help us get the payment into the correct account.

Q:  How do students deposit money on their accounts?

A:  Any students wishing to bring money for their own accounts can simply give it to the cafeteria ladies in the snack, or lunch line.  When the student enters his or her PIN number in order to make a purchase, it is very quick and easy to deposit money into his or her account at that time.  Please remember, all checks should always include the name your child is registered under, as well as their PIN number.

Q:  Are there any other advantages to the new Lunchbox system?

A:  Yes!  Actually there are many, but a few good examples are these:  Very soon parents will be able to see (on-line) exactly what food their child is buying for snack and lunch.  Also, exactly how much money is being deducted from a child's account each day.  Parent's will be able to check account balances, and make deposits, on-line.  In the future, the new Lunchbox System will make it possible for families to pay for other events without sending money to school.  For example, a school field trip might be paid for, by credit card, on-line!
