Additionally, I wanted to let you know that the Irvine Unified Council PTA and a number of state organizations are encouraging parents, staff and community members to wear blue on Thursday, March 4, to show that we are “blue about the budget.”

This is another chance to raise awareness of the fact that California’s schools have been hit with $17 billion in reductions over the last two years, and the governor is proposing another $2.5 billion worth of cuts for 2010-11. Statewide, a number of groups led by the Education Coalition will be organizing events to call attention to the devastating impacts.

So, if you will, please join me in showing support locally by wearing blue on March 4.
