Dear Parents,
Every student in the second through sixth grades will begin standardized testing the week of May 7th. The achievement tests primarily measure student skills in math and language arts. Most students will take one or two parts of a test each day over our testing window, which is May 7th – May 18th. Tests will be administered Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 – 10:30. It is important that all students are present during testing; so please schedule any doctor or dentist appointments before or after school.
We encourage you to help us establish a positive testing environment and prepare your children to do their best.
During the testing time periods we will limit classroom interruptions by:
Keeping late students in the office once classroom testing has begun.
Holding messages to the classrooms until the recess break or the day’s testing is complete.
Asking parent volunteers to assist only after 10:30am.
You can prepare and encourage your child by:
Providing a nutritious breakfast.
Ensuring a good night’s rest.
Encouraging your child to try their best.
Let your students know that the CST test should feel familiar, like any other classroom activity. Even if they see items they do not know, they should make an attempt and then go on. Springbrook students do well and know many more things that are not tested!
Student test results will be available late summer to early fall.

Dear Parents,
Last night at the IUSD Honors Concert, I met the founding Superintendent Stan Corey for the first time. It was the 20th anniversary of the concert and of course, we are celebrating the 40th anniversary of IUSD. Dr. Corey is an inspirational leader and his wisdom set forth many wonderful principles and guidelines that have created a school district that is head and shoulders above any other. He told a story of a meeting with his staff the evening before the very first day of school, 40 years ago. The staff was anxious with anticipation and he could see they needed a few words. Those words still are relevant today, “go forth, and make magic”. I try to echo Dr. Corey in leading the Springbrook staff. Every day should feel like magic.
