Enrollment for 2008-2009
To enroll a student at Turtle Rock for the 2008-2009 school year: Enroll online at IUSD.org … make one copy for your records and one copy for Turtle Rock. Bring the following to our office to enroll:
* Online registration paperwork
* Parent’s photo id.
* 2 proofs of residence that are in the name of the enrolling parent
* Student’s original birth certificate or passport
* Student’s immunization records
You cannot enroll unless you have all these documents. The hours for registration are: 9-2 every day.
Volunteer of the Week
Please join us in thanking Mr. Ed Hamada, the manager at Albertsons market on Campus Drive. Once again our wonderful community partner has shown his generosity by donating the delicious food for the Teacher Appreciation lunch last Friday. Our teachers enjoyed fried chicken, fresh cut fruits and veggies, potato salad, and sandwiches – courtesy of Albertsons. Thank you so much for helping us honor our amazing teachers, Mr. Hamada!
Say It Isn’t So!
The parents and students of Turtle Rock Elementary School would like to be the first to wish Mrs. Shane well in her new position as principal of Woodbury Elementary. We greatly appreciated the personal email that let us know the news . . . but it is hard to imagine our school without her energy, enthusiasm, and dedication. We sincerely hope that her new school appreciates the amazing gift they have been given!
Community Forum, Tuesday, May 20, 2:45 PM, Multi-purpose room
The district is in the process of identifying the next principal for Turtle Rock Elementary. In order to gain insight into each school’s needs and desired characteristics of the successor to Mrs. Shane, an input session will be conducted which includes both staff and community members. Please join us.
Traffic Flow Update
As you may have noticed by the black cable laying across Amalfi above Via San Marco, the city is counting the number of cars which use the street and considering the need for stop signs in our neighborhood. This week Mrs. Shane met with Officer Gibbs, Jim Lizzi with the City of Irvine, and several members of the local homeowners association to discuss their concern about the new traffic flow pattern for the parking lot. We will keep you informed as information becomes available.
2008-2009 Enrollment
If you did not receive a postcard asking for information regarding your child’s school placement for next year, please come to the office with two current proofs of residency. This postcard is the only way to reserve a space for your child. Call the school office at 936-6250 to verify what documents can be accepted.
Vandalism at Turtle Rock
Last weekend vandals destroyed both of the soccer goals on the fields of the school. If you have any information regarding this, please contact the school office or the police department.
Irvine Family Fun Fair
Come to Irvine Police Department’s Public Safety Open House complete with games, food, activity booths, health screenings, and entertainment. This fair promotes public safety, emergency preparedness, wellness, and FUN! See the attached flyer for more information – FREE admission and FREE hot dog lunch – bring the family out from 9-1 pm Saturday, May 17th! We hope to see everyone there!

The Turtle Rock PTA is asking parents to visit its webpage at www.turtlerockpta.org. In addition to having much needed information about the school, the webpage has online links to vendors like amazon. By using the links on the PTA webpage, a percent of the profits are given back to Turtle Rock PTA. For example, the PTA plans to use the school rewards for new books from the amazon link. Just be sure to go through the PTA webpage link so TR gets the credit. Additional links offering school rewards will be coming in the near future so be sure to check the webpage often! ACE Survey
Please answer the questions on the ACE survey which was sent out as a mass email. This will help give us valuable information regarding what classes to offer and also provide an idea of the amount of volunteer support we can expect for the program. Career Day, May 28
Dress up like the career you want when you are older and at recess compete in the 3-legged race and best dressed contest.
Hawaiian Day, June 4
Dress up in Hawaiian themed attire and join the water balloon toss contest at recess.
S.E.A. (Summer Enrichment Academy)
