Welcome to our new principal, Karen Catabijan!
A special thanks to the Turtle Rock staff and community for participating in our comprehensive input process for the selection of a new principal. Additionally, the following individuals are to be commended for participating in the actual interviews: Stacy Levinski, Gail Williams, Nancy Werth and LaRae Cunningham. As a result of our collective hard work, it is my pleasure to announce the selection of Karen Catabijan as the new principal for Turtle Rock Elementary.
Karen comes to us from the Ocean View School District, where she has most recently served as the principal of Oak View Elementary since 1996. Prior to her principalship, Karen was tapped for a variety of leadership roles including Vice Principal, SIP Coordinator and Bilingual/Title 1 Coordinator, after serving 12 years as a classroom teacher.
Karen received her Masters in Educational Administration from CSU Dominguez Hills and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Marymount-Loyola.
Karen is an Irvine resident and former parent, whose son attended Irvine schools. According to all who have met her here, Karen's enthusiasm, energy and focus on kids is unmatched and we are thrilled to be the recipients of her many talents. Welcome Karen!
Enrollment for 2008-2009
To enroll a student at Turtle Rock for the 2008-2009 school year: Enroll online at IUSD.org … make one copy for your records and one copy for Turtle Rock. Bring the following to our office to enroll:
* Online registration paperwork
* Parent’s photo id.
* 2 proofs of residence that are in the name of the enrolling parent
* Student’s original birth certificate or passport
* Student’s immunization records
You cannot enroll unless you have all these documents.
Office Hours during Summer Break
The office will open on Monday, August 25th through September 2nd from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The office will be closed on Monday, September 1st for Labor Day. On Wednesday, September 3rd the office will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Class lists will be posted at the school after 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3rd.
