Thursday morning coffees from 7:30-8:30 a.m. for each grade level to discuss pertinent issues. Questions and answer period for Parents.

PTSA Counselor Night: Early November

Two counselors meet with 9th and 10th grade parents to discuss the four-year plan; two counselors meet with 11th and 12th grade parents to discuss the college systems with representatives from the community college system, the private college system, the CSU system and the UC system.

 

Senior Fall Meeting: , during office hours. Review graduation requirements and the college application process.

 

Sophomore Counseling: Each sophomore and his/her family is invited to a private meeting (approximately 45 minutes) during the spring semester to discuss the student's junior and senior year schedules and post high school plans with the assigned counselor.

 

Junior Counseling: Juniors meet in groups of approximately ten peers who have similar GPA’s during the spring semester. The counselor discusses senior year programs and post high school plans.

 

Mock Admissions with Bill Cox, for 10th and 11th grade parents.  Mr. Cox has served as an admissions staff member at both Princeton and Cornell Universities. He presents an interactive program which details the admissions process used by selective schools.

 

UC application meetings: The counselors and Mrs. Koch Jones from the College and Career Center meet with seniors during office hours in the fall to assist with the completion of the UC application form. These meetings will be held during October.

 

Letters of Recommendation: Each counselor has a recommendation packet which must be completed before making an appointment with his/her counselor for a letter of recommendation. There are specific instructions on each packet which must be read carefully. Only private schools require letters of recommendation.
