ROP

The Regional Occupational Program (ROP) is a perfect way for students to explore, discover, or confirm their career interests. ROP benefits all students by providing early exposure, preparation and experimentation in a variety of career pathways. We offer elective courses that may include (unpaid) internships.

The program is available to high school seniors, juniors, 16 year-olds, and adults. High school students earn grades and credits towards graduation:

  • Gain experience required for immediate employment
  •  Participate in courses that offer internships
  • Earn certificates of completion
  • Experience careers that may assist in choosing college majors and enhance college admission applications
  • Adults may upgrade skills, change careers, or prepare for re-entry into the workforce

Courses are offered in five career pathways (Arts and Communication, Business and Marketing, Health Sciences, Public Services, Science and Technology) which provide a range of subjects to match a diverse student population.

Classes are held in businesses and in high schools located within the five participating districts.  These classes are held during school hours, after school, and evenings. Classes are generally one semester in length. Courses are free to high school students; a $40 registration fee is required of adults.

Please call or visit Valerie Morehouse, ROP Career Specialist, to learn more about ROP. She is located in the library, and can be reached at 949-936-7633.
