PLAN

Freshmen and sophomores will be able to take the PLAN—put out by ACT. The test date will be Saturday, October 15, 2005. The content of the PLAN test is closely tied to that of the achievement tests in the ACT Assessment, which is broadly used for college entrance and placement decisions. In addition, PLAN includes an interest inventory to help students explore personally relevant career options, it collects information about students' perceived needs for help, and it provides relevant college and scholarship information at no cost to students based on their PLAN information. Registration information will be provided in the summer mailer.

PSAT

The 2005-2006 PSAT will be given on Saturday, October 15, 2005. PSAT/NMSQT stands for Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the New SAT I Test. It also gives students who take the exam in their junior year a chance to qualify for National Merit Scholarship Corporation's (NMSC) scholarship programs. ALL juniors are urged to take the PSAT for consideration for National Merit awards. Sophomores may take the exam to gain familiarity with the test, but are not eligible for National Merit Scholarship competition. Sophomores are encouraged to consider taking the PLAN test, described above, because it will provide preparation for the ACT as well as provide students with career information. Registration information will be given in the summer mailer.
