State Flag of Vermont
The current flag of Vermont was adopted on June 1, 1923. The flag consists of the states coat of arms and state motto on a blue background. Pictured in the coat of arms is a pine tree, a cow, bales of hay, and wheat. In the background are Vermont’s Green Mountains. Written on a red ribbon underneath the coat of arms are “VERMONT” and its motto “FREEDOM AND UNITY”. State Seal of Vermont
The official seal of Vermont is used to emboss official documents. It was originally designed by Ira Allen. Pictured on the seal is a pine tree, a forest, grain sheaves and a cow which represents agriculture. Vermont’s state motto “freedom and unity” is centered below the state’s name. At the top and bottom of the seal are wavy lines that might represent clouds above and water below.
