Suggested Routes to School

The City of Irvine Neighborhood Traffic Engineering section has prepared a Suggested Route to School map for us. This maps was created in order to develop uniformity in the use of school area traffic controls. The Suggested Routes to School plan consists of a map showing area streets, the school, existing traffic controls, established school walking routes, and established school crossings. Information regarding the safe operation of bicycles is also included on the map. Please print out the map and discuss it as a family to when reviewing the safest route to school.

Stitches from the Heart

The 5th grade Junior Girl Scout Troop 131 is working on their Bronze Award, which is the highest award you can earn as a Junior Girl Scout.  Among other requirements, the troop must complete 15 hours of community service.  The troop is working with a non-profit group, Stitches From the Heart, that knits hats, booties and blankets for needy babies. As Stitches From the Heart is a non-profit, they need donations of time (if you knit), yarn and money (for supplies like shipping). Troop 131 will be knitting baby caps and collecting yarn donations to complete their community service.  All donations will go directly to the Stitches From the Heart program.  Troop 131 will be collecting yarn donations at Westpark Elementary from now until December in the front office.  For more information, you may contact the Leader, Lori Mehl at (949) 251-1744.
